Pre-settling your estate

To ensure that you have absolute future control over your property and/or business affairs, and that your wishes are strictly followed when you die, you may want to consider pre-settling your estate.

This involves transferring all or a portion of your property and assets now, during your lifetime, normally through the use of a Family Trust, Deeds of Assignment and the possible creation of a Holding company. An estate freeze is a very common example of this strategy.

Pre-settlement of your property and/or business assets allows you to structure the control and administration of your future holdings now, well before your passing, but without relinquishing any of your present control.

This pre-established control and administration continues long after your death and will determine how the property and assets will be managed, how they will devolve to your beneficiaries, on what timelines and under what specific conditions.

In this way, you can continue to enjoy the benefits of controlling your own property now, while imposing your own customized safeguards on the future use and administration of your property and/or business assets. These safeguards will ensure that the maximum benefits will accrue to your loved ones, well into the future, precisely in the manner that you intended.

Please contact us for more information on the numerous pre-settlement options.
